As a naturopathic doctor, I will work with you to understand how your body has gotten out of balance so that we can correct the course.

Meet Dr. Albano

Mary-Leah Albano is a licensed naturopathic doctor with a general family practice serving Brantford, Brant County and Norfolk County.  She has been an associate ND at Holistic Healing Arts in Brantford since 2011.

After graduating from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania with her Bachelor of Science in biology and pre-medicine (BSc), Dr Albano went on to earn her Master of Public Health (MPH) at Drexel University’s School of Public Health in Philadelphia. It was here that she was exposed to a preventative view of health care and, combining her love of nature and living naturally, returned to Canada to study Naturopathic Medicine. Dr Albano graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto in 2011.

As a primary care provider, Dr Albano strongly believes in the naturopathic philosophies of treating the whole person, investigating and treating the underlying cause of disease, and individualizing treatment to the person.  Using a mix of naturopathic treatment strategies (nutrition, botanical medicine, acupuncture, lifestyle counselling, homeopathy, intravenous therapy, bio-identical hormone therapy), Dr. Albano welcomes patients of any age and health concern, including digestive concerns, skin issues, body pains, thyroid concerns, female hormonal imbalances, and emotional coping. A former competitive softball player, Dr Albano also enjoys working with local athletes to maximize athletic performance using natural means.

Dr Albano is Ontario board licensed, in good standing with the College of Naturopathic of Ontario (CoNO), a member of both the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND). Dr Albano is also licensed to provide intravenous (IV) therapy and bio-identical hormone replacement therapy.

Dr Albano resides in Courtland, Ontario with her family and two corgis.

My Practice

My practice is quite eclectic in the conditions I treat and the type and age of patients who come through my door.  The most common patient population I see and treat are patients with peri-menopause and menopausal hormonal concerns.

I also support patients with the following concerns:

  • fatigue, stress, and burnout
  • thyroid health
  • hormone imbalances including heavy, painful or irregular periods, PCOS
  • difficulty sleeping
  • mood and mental health
  • maldigestion and food sensitivities
  • weight challenges, blood sugar imbalance and diabetes
  • neurodiversity, autism, ADHD, ADD

I also practice eclectically as far as my naturopathic tool kit.  I use a variety of naturopathic supports and tailor to the needs of the patient including:

  • nutritional counselling
  • vitamin and mineral supplementation
  • lifestyle counselling
  • stress management support
  • herbal medicine in the form of teas, capsules and liquid tinctures
  • homeopathy
  • traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture

I also have extra training in IV Therapy and bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) for those who could benefit from these specialized therapies.
